Target Archery

The royal round and the standard IKAC are both widespread and familiar to all Kingdoms. The royal round, which consists of six arrows at 20 yards, six at 30 yards, and six at 40 yards with a 30 second speed round at 20 yards, will remain the official Gulf Wars competition. Official IKAC's which consist of two static rounds of six arrows each and two 30 second speed rounds at each of the same three distances will be offered, but not as part of the War Point competition. Targets for both of these activities are the 60 cm concentric circle targets used in Olympic competition.

Bow and Arrow Requirements Target Archery

Longbows, recurves, and crossbows that meet Society Conventions are allowed. Bows may be of any weight desired, however those which the marshal feels cause concern for safety or are of a destructive nature will be disallowed.

No sights are allowed on longbows or recurves. Crossbows are allowed single fixed sights.

For the War Point, all shooting will be done from the standing position for both bow and crossbow. Disabled archers will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

The Prize shoot will be held Monday through Thursday at 4:00 pm at the Archery Range.

Court Barons/Baroness' Tournament
Archers, come join us Friday for a fun filled tournament in honor of the two preeminent archers of the Middle Ages, Robyn Hoode, and William Tell. This tournament will feature target shoots that will test your skill and accuracy. Included will be a standing target shoot, a timed 'run and duck' shoot, a moving target shoot and, of course, a 'shoot the apple off the head' shoot. We hope to offer the largest prize table of any tournament at the war for the winner. Due to the nature of some of the prizes, we ask that all participants be 21 or over. Sponsored by the Court Barons and Baroness' of Gleann Abhann.

The Grand Exhibition Tourney (GET): Rules per Lord Aleyn Kynyd ap Rhys:

This year's entry into the tournament will be based upon 2 things:

1. Each Kingdom will chose two representatives. These representative’s names should be turned into the MIC at Sherwood Range by Friday Morning before 10:00 am.

2. The winners and the second place winner of the prize shoots at Sherwood Range each day, will be allowed to join the GET. If the winner is already chosen by their Kingdom or have already won a daily shoot, the second and third place winner will be entered and so on and so forth.

So, that should mean there are going to be about 24 or so people shooting in the GET. Some by daily shoots, some by appointment.

As far as the type of shoots that will be done, that is a secret.

I will be posting the requirements on a flier at Troll for everyone to see, as well as at the range.
