Herald's Point
PLEASE NOTE: The information below was accurate for Gulf Wars XIX (2010) and is listed here for your reference only with the understanding it may change at any time. This will be updated for Gulf Wars XX (2011) as soon as the information is available.
Heraldry is that area of the Arts and Sciences that identifies who you are, where you are supposed to be and who you are fighting for. We encourage all participants, for the cause of glory and honor, to create and make full use of a period name and device, and display beautiful representations of your devices and the symbols of the Kingdoms you represent.
Please bring and display banners, pennants, appropriate heraldic tabards and garments, and any displays that may help us turn our modern site into a truly period village and field for lysts and battles. Sheet walls and other period decorations to surround campsites are encouraged. Banners and other methods to conceal mundane facilities are welcome—please consult the War Herald's office if you have any questions.
If you do not yet have a name or device, we can help! The heralds from several kingdoms will be available at Herald’s Point to help you choose a name and design a device to represent you. We will be providing announcements on sign boards and with town criers to help you know where you are supposed to be. The War Herald’s office will also be organizing the Opening Processional to formally start the war and Great Court to formally end the war—don’t miss these impressive events for all the people.
Herald’s Point Activities:
- Consultation for name and device submission
- Classes in Heraldry
- Heraldic Social Events
Herald’s Point is in the middle of downtown Gulf Wars, midway between the Fort, Bede Hall and the north merchants area, at the corner of Lacy’s Way and Knight’s Circle. Look for the tent with a green banner and two bright gold crossed trumpets.
Herald’s Point provides consultation on name and device submission. We will have forms and receive submissions for several of the kingdoms. We plan to offer several classes in heraldry and will provide some social activities for heralds as well.
Herald's Point will be open Monday, March 14 thru Saturday, March 20 (This is GW XIX - last year new dates needed for GWXX). Consultation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. Monday-Friday. The Point will be open from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday for pickups and submissions ONLY, and will be closing at 1:00 P.M. (subject to change).
The schedule of classes and social events will be posted in January.
